Reptiles of Sydney Harbour

From the gullies to the forests and the sea you can meet some lizards, snakes and turtles. The large Lace Monitor, the visiting Green Turtle and the tiny Leaf-tailed Gecko are some of the many reptiles found in the Sydney region.


Introduction
Approximately 40 reptile species once inhabited the sandstone gullies and ridges along the middle to lower reaches of Sydney Harbour.

Snake species from four terrestrial families occur in Sydney Harbour area. Several species of sea-snake are occasional visitors to the harbour.
