Sydney Harbour has a very large area of protected waters. The calm waters provide ideal hunting areas for birds
such as the Crested Terns Sterna bergii and Common Terns Sterna hirundo (the latter in summer only),
Little Pied Cormorants Phalacrocorax melanoleucos and Great Cormorants Phalacrocorax carbo.
